When I connect my CT clamp to my fridge i get a 0 (zero) reading

A CT Clamp must be placed around a single-core cable.

The CT Clamp detects the current flowing through the cable based on the magnetic field the current generates.

If you place the CT Clamp around a multi-core cable (such as that going into a fridge), the magnetic fields from the active and neutral cables cancel each other out, and the CT Clamp reads zero.

If you want to monitor the power consumption of an individual appliance then the IAMs (Individual Appliance Monitors) will allow you to do this and send the information to your EnviR or NetSmart Gateway.
